Uploading Medical Images

In the next paragraphs you will learn how to upload your DICOM images to postDICOM cloud. For detailed upload options follow article links (anonymizing patient data, adding clinical documents and assigning studies to folders).

Step 1: On postDICOM viewer, click on "File Upload" icon on the left side of the page. File and Folder selection options as well as Institution selection will be shown.

Step 2: Click on "Select Folder" for searching and uploading DICOM images in a folder or "Select File" if you want to upload a DICOM file. After selecting folder or file, files are processed and number of selected DICOM files are displayed. Click on "Next" button to move to next page.

Step 3: DICOM files are scanned and then images are grouped according to DICOM Study Instance UID values. Then a preview of of DICOM studies are shown. In the preview, DICOM Modality, Patient Name, Patient ID, Study Date, Study Description, Number of Series, Number Of Images and Number of Clinical Documents are shown.

If you need to add DICOM files stored in another folder, click on "Add Folder" button on the upper left side of the page. If you need to add another DICOM file click on "Add File" button. After scanning and processing newly selected DICOM files the preview page will be updated.

In this preview page, you can select which studies to be upload to cloud. At default, all studies are selected for upload. When you click on a selected study, it will be deselected. Likewise, if you click on a deselected study, it will be selected. Selected studies are displayed in blue and disabled studies are shown in colour gray. If you deselected some of the studies and want to select all, you can click on "Select All" button.

After you have selected the studies you want to upload, accept Terms and Conditions by clicking on “I Accept Terms and Conditions”. Then, click on "Next" button to start uploading process.

Step 4: Please be patient while medical images and clinical documents are uploaded. You can see the upload progress and the remaining time.

Step 5: When uploading process is finished, you will see the text "Upload Completed" on the page. Now you can search for your studies and view them or upload new ones.

Anonymizing Medical Images

In this chapter, you will learn how to anonymize patient details. For better understanding make sure that you read Uploading Medical Images article. For detailed upload options follow article links (adding clinical documents and assigning studies to teaching folders).

Step 1: On "Step 2/4: View Selected Files" page, you will see all Patient Study Previews. At the bottom of each patient study preview, there are 4 buttons namely anonymize, add clinical documents, assign study to a folder and show study details. In order to anonymize a particular patient study, click on anonymize button on the lower left corner.

Step 2: After clicking on the icon shown above, "Anonymize Study" form will be shown. Patient Study fields such as Patient Name, Patient ID, Patient Other Ids etc. are shown with default values. You can change one or more field values by selecting and editing. If you want to fill these fields with random values, click on "Fill Random Values" icon at the upper right of the form.

Step 3: Once you have entered the anonymized values , select "Use Anonymized Values" and then click on "OK" button to save them. "Anonymize Study" icon which was previously white colour will turn into black. If you do not want to use anonymized values click on "Anonymize Study" and deselect "Use Anonymized Values" and then click "OK". "Anonymize Study" icon will turn into white colour.

In this way, you can anonymize any Patient Study before uploading to postDICOM cloud.

Uploading Clinical Documents with Medical Images

In this article, you will learn how to upload clinical documents with medical images. For better understanding make sure that you read Uploading Medical Images article. For detailed upload options follow article links (anonymizing patient data and assigning studies to folders).

Step 1: On "Step 2/4: View Selected Files" page, you will see all Patient Study Previews. At the bottom of each patient study preview, there are 4 buttons namely anonymize, add clinical documents, assign study to a folder and show study details. In order to add clinical documents to a patient study, click on "Add Document" icon.

Step 2: After clicking on the "Add Document" icon, document selection form will be shown. On that form, click on "Select File" button to add a document. Supported file types are MP4, AVI, PDF, BMP, PNG, JPEG and JPG. After selecting the documents you want to upload, the documents will be listed as shown below. You can change the name of file or add file description by clicking on the pencil shaped icon on the right side of the document info. After you added the file description, you can save it by clicking the disk shaped icon or cancel it by clicking on cross icon. Documents can be removed from list by clicking on recycle bin icon.

Step 3: Once you have added all documents and made edits you want, click on "OK" button to save them. "Add Document" icon which was previously white will turn into black color indicating some documents will be uploaded with that patient study.

In this way, you can add any clinical documents to any Patient Study before uploading to postDICOM cloud.

Adding Medical Images to Folders

In this article, you will learn how to add (assign) medical images to folders. For better understanding make sure that you read Uploading Medical Images article. For detailed upload options follow article links (anonymizing patient data and adding clinical documents).

Step 1: On "Step 2/4: View Selected Files" page, you will see all Patient Study Previews. At the bottom of each patient study preview, there are 4 buttons namely anonymize, add clinical documents, assign study to a folder and show study details. In order to add patient studies to folders, click on the folder shaped icon.

Step 2: After clicking on the icon, Folder Selection form will be shown. There are three default folders namely Consulting Patients, Teaching Files and To Be Reported. You can add the medical images into these folders or you can create a new folder and assign to that.

Step 3: When you select a folder by clicking on it, it is displayed in blue colour and not selected folders remain in gray. If you click on it again, it will be deselected and turn into gray.

Step 4: Once you have selected the folder, click on "OK" button to save it. "Select Folder" icon which was previously white colour will turn into black.

In this way, you can add (assign) any Patient Study to a folder before uploading to postDICOM cloud.

Viewing Medical Images and Clinical Document Details

In this article, you will learn how to view medical images and clinical document details. For better understanding make sure that you read Uploading Medical Images article. Step 1: On "Step 2/4: View Selected Files" page, you will see all Patient Study Previews. In order to view medical images and clinical document details, click on "Detail" button on the lower right corner of the folder.

Step 2: After clicking on the icon, "Detail" form will be shown in the opening page. You can see all the details namely as Series Modality, Number of DICOM images in series, total Size in KB, Series Date and Series Description. You can also see Document Type, Size in KB, File Name and File Description info of the clinical documents you added. If you want to delete any of them, click on the icon on the right end of each line.
