Annotations

In this section, you will learn the content of the annotations field. For more information read articles at here.

Step 1: On “Patient Search” page, all patient orders at your account will be displayed. Double click on the order you want to view the images. “View” page will be opened. Click on “Tools” icon on the upper left side of the page.

After clicking, the tools section will be displayed. Initially, in “Annotations” field, there is no annotation selected. You can select an annotation and start to make the measure.

Step 2: After you have clicked, tools section will be displayed. This field includes ruler, angle, elliptical ROI, cross ruler, cobb-angle, arrow, clear and clear all icons respectively. Related links are below the page.

Before use annotations, you must view an image on the viewport. When you click on the icon, it will turn into blue color and selected annotation's sign will be shown at the bottom of your mouse pointer.

Using Distance Tool

In this article, you will learn how to use distance tool.

Step 1 On “Patient Search” page, all patient orders at your account will be shown. Double click on the order you want to view the images. “View” page will be opened. Click on “Tools” icon on the upper left side of the page.

Step 2 After you have clicked, tools section will be displayed. In “Annotations” field, click on “Ruler” icon on the upper left side of the section.

Step 3 When you click on the icon, it will turn into blue color and a ruler sign will be shown at the bottom of your mouse pointer. Click on the starting point of the distance you want to measure and move your mouse to the end point. Until you click, the distance will appear in blue color. Click on the end point of the distance and then it will turn into yellow. You will see the distance value next to the end point which is the actual value of the measured distance.

If you need to measure another distance, click on start and end points of new measurement. Right click to exit from measurement tool. Mouse pointer will return to default function.

In order to move the line, right click to exit from the function, click on the point in the middle of the line and drag your mouse to the direction you want.

Step 4 In this way, you can measure any distance on the view with its actual value.

Using ROI (Region of Interest) Tool

In this article, you will learn how to use distance tool.

Step 1: On “Patient Search” page, all patient orders at your account will be shown. Double click on the order you want to view the images. “View” page will be opened. Click on “Tools” icon on the upper left side of the page.

Step 2: After clicking, tools section will be displayed. In “Annotations” field, click on “Elliptical ROI” icon on the upper side of the section.

Step 3: When you click on the icon, it will turn into blue color and an elliptical ROI sign will appear at the bottom of your mouse pointer. Click on the starting point of the ROI you want to select and move your mouse to the end point. Until you click, the ROI will appear in blue color. Click on the end point of the ROI and then the elliptical region of interest will be displayed in yellow. You will see the mean, maximum and minimum measurements next to the end point.

If you need, you can create and measure as much ROI as you want on the view. Right click to exit from ROI tool. Mouse pointer will return to default function.

Step 4: In order to move the ROI, right click to exit from the function, click on the point in the middle of the ROI and drag your mouse to the direction you want.

Using Angle Tool

In this section, you will learn how to use angle tool. For more information read articles at here.

Step 1: On “Patient Search” page, all patient orders at your account will be shown. Double click on the order you want to view the images. “View” page will be opened. Click on “Tools” icon on the upper left side of the page.

Step 2: After you have clicked, tools section will be displayed. In “Annotations” field, click on “Angle” icon on the upper side of the section.

Step 3: When you click on the icon, it will turn into blue color and an angle sign will be shown at the bottom of your mouse pointer. Click on the starting point of the angle you want to measure and move your mouse to the vertex point. Click again to determine the vertex and move your mouse to the end point of the angle and click. Until you click, the lines will appear in blue color. After you click on the end point, the lines will turn into yellow. You will see the angle value next to the end point which is the actual value of the measured angle.

If you need to measure another angle click on start, vertex and end points of new measurement. Right click to exit from measurement tool. Mouse pointer will return to default function.

Step 4: In order to move the angle, right click to exit from the function, click on the point in the middle of the angle and drag your mouse to the direction you want.

Using Cobb-Angle Tool

In this section, you will learn how to use cobb-angle tool.

Step 1: On “Patient Search” page, all patient orders at your account will be shown. Double click on the order you want to view the images. “View” page will be opened. Click on “Tools” icon on the upper left side of the page.

Step 2: Once you have clicked on, tools section will be shown. In “Annotations” field, click on “Cobb-Angle” icon on the upper side of the section.

Step 3: When you click on the icon, it will turn into blue color and a cobb-angle sign will appear at the bottom of your mouse pointer. Draw the first line by clicking on the starting point, moving your mouse to the end point and click again.Then similarly draw the second line of the cobb-angle you want to measure. Until you click on the fourth point, the lines will appear in blue color. After you click on the end point of the second line, the lines will turn into yellow. You will see the angle value next to the end point of the second line which is the actual value of the measured angle.

If you need to measure another cobb-angle, draw two new lines for the new measurement. Right click to exit from measurement tool. Mouse pointer will return to default function.

Using Arrow Tool

In this article, you will learn how to use arrow tool.

Step 1: On “Patient Search” page, all patient orders at your account will be shown. Double click on the order you want to view the images. “View” page will be opened. Click on “Tools” icon on the upper left side of the page.

Step 2: After you have clicked, tools section will be displayed. In “Annotations” field, click on “Arrow” icon on the upper side of the section.

Before use annotations, you must view an image on the viewport. When you click on the icon, it will turn into blue color and an selected annotation's sign will be shown at the bottom of your mouse pointer.

Step 3: When you click on the icon, it will turn into blue color and an arrow sign will be shown at the bottom of your mouse pointer. Click on the point you want to enter a description on the view. After clicking, an input box will be opened. Enter your description in the relevant blank and click on “OK” button. If you want to exit from the input box, click on “Cancel” button.

Step 4: Once you have click on “OK” button, your description will be shown on the view.

Step 5: If you need to enter another description, click on the view and follow the same steps.

Right click to exit from the tool. Mouse pointer will return to default function.

Step 6: In order to move the description, right click to exit from the function, click on the arrowhead and drag your mouse to the direction you want.

Using Cross-Ruler Tool

In this article, you will learn how to use arrow tool.

Step 1: On “Patient Search” page, all patient orders at your account will be shown. Double click on the order you want to view the images. “View” page will be opened. Click on “Tools” icon on the upper left side of the page.

Step 2: After clicking, tools section will be displayed. In “Annotations” field, click on “Cross Ruler” icon on the upper side of the section.

Step 3: When you click on the icon, it will turn into blue color and a cross ruler sign will be displayed at the bottom of your mouse pointer. Draw the first line by clicking on the starting point, moving your mouse to the end point and click again.Then similarly draw the second line by crossing the first line. Until you click on the fourth point, the lines will be shown in blue color. After you click on the end point of the second line, the lines will turn into yellow. You will see the distances of both lines with a cross between them next to the end point of the second line. These are the actual values of the measured distances.

If you need to measure another cross region, draw two new lines for the new measurement. Right click to exit from tool. Mouse pointer will return to default function.

Step 4: In order to move the cross region, right click to exit from the function, click on the point in the middle of the cross and drag your mouse to the direction you want.

Clearing Annotations

In this section, you will learn how to clear annotations. If you don't know how to use the annotations you can read these (Using Cross-Ruler Tool, Using Cobb-Angle Tool, Using Angle Tool, Using Arrow Tool, Using Distance Tool) articles.

Step 1: On “Patient Search” page, all patient orders at your account will be shown. Double click on the order you want to view the images. “View” page will be opened. Click on “Tools” icon on the upper left side of the page.

Step 2: After clicking, tools section will be displayed. You can view and take measurements on images follow articles in here.

Step 3: In order to delete annotations you have made on a single image, click on “Clear” icon in “Annotations” field on the upper left side of the page. When you clicked the icon, only the annotations in the current image will be cleared. If you have annotations at other images in the series, they will not be cleared.

Step 4: For clearing annotations you have made in all images in the series, click on “Clear All” icon in “Annotations” field on the upper left side of the page.

Step 5: In this way you can clear the annotations on a single image or all the images in the same series.

If you use a few annotations you can delete the last annotation on the image by clicking "Delete Last Annotation" icon (In the latest version of PostDICOM). The images contained in this article are taken from the old version of the PostDICOM.
